Graphic Design – Branding

Logos are the essential for branding. For West Chester Protective Gear's Extreme Work brand, I developed variations of the Extreme Work logo that incorporated various automotive elements such as carbon fiber, chrome gradients, bold italic fonts, and racing stripes.

I have also done logos for consultants, local bands, consumer electronic music products, and special events apparel.

Graphic Design – Display

Trade show displays are a great way to focus a brand's top products and visual content. I have done large wall displays, small product placards, rotating hanging signs, and scale drawings planning out the booth layout.

I have also done many POP displays for retailers such as Lowe's and Tractor Supply Co.

Graphic Design – Product

I have worked on many industrial products that require displaying testing information, such as Barracuda Cut Sleeves. I have worked with big box store retailers such as Guitar Center to develop their private label line of Acoustic brand bass amplifiers. I have worked directly with John Moyer, bassist for Disturbed, on the designs of his line of Kustom artist series bass cabinets. I have even made my own line of paper toys with articulating joints that have a wide range of motion.

Graphic Design – Print

Print Design is still important for product sell sheets, presentations, and advertisements. Many current virtual trade shows consist of PDF files of product sell sheets and other printed literature. KEI, a partnership of Kustom Amplification and Eminence Speakers utilized my design for print advertisements for several years.

Graphic Design – Packaging

Packaging and production art requires an understanding of file set up for industrial printing and clear communication with factories worldwide. Another element is creating 3D renders of that packing with Photoshop or 3D programs like Cinema 4D. Photo realistic renders can be made where the production artwork can change along with changing the colors of a product.

Graphic Design – Catalogs

For West Chester catalogs, I established common visual elements and standardized product information along with using unique call out sections. The Davitt & Hanser music accessory catalog had over 7000 items with pricing. I was involved with designing and creating the programmable modules in InDesign that would feed content in from a database for rapid content updates.

Working With Brands

As a Graphic Designer, I have spent my career working with brands. Some of these brands are also some of the largest retailers in the world, and others are brands that I have been able to help develop from the ground up. I have worked at agencies where clients have been as large as Procter & Gamble, international conglomerates like Azelis, and also small local non-profits. I have worked for manufacturers, who act as vendors for large retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, Lowe's, The Home Depot, Guitar Center, and Musician's Friend. I have also spent considerable time working as a freelancer where it was necessary to manage my own clients. I have even worked for the Department of Energy at a national laboratory.

Design work entails the need for good project management and responsive communication with clients. For established brands, requirements of a design project need to follow the dictates of a brand guide along with project specifications and time and resource budgets. Also needed, is an inquisitive mind that is always seeking to learn new techniques and software. I have been especially focused on learning processes, like website SEO, InDesign data merge for catalogs, and photography automation for background removal and animation.

My background starting at the University of Cincinnati, has lead me to have a variety of professional design experiences covering many specialities. Some of my specialities are Product Photography, Print Design, Web Design, Webmastering, SEO, Product Design, Package Design, Exhibit Design, Audio Recording, Video Editing, and 3D Rendering.
